Highlight Tapes: Suggested Deadline: June 15
I suggest for the best opportunities you have a highlight tape made. The tapes should be no more than 4-6 minutes in length showcasing a variety of your skills and posted to YOUTUBE. Coaches will watch a highlight tape first to see if they want to invest more time in watching your full game tapes. This is the first impression you have with coaches, agents, and scouts. So professionalism is key. Synergy, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc can require passcodes. Get it on Youtube for easy viewing and sharing.
Ways of getting a highlight tape
- Make it your self.
- Collegiate coaching staff can help you make the tape since they have all the film
If neither of those options are possible:
- Eddie Denard also known as Fire Mixtapes is the most well known tape maker in international basketball.
- Will finish your highlight tape in 36-48 hours from the time you hire him. He can pull video from any source including Synergy.
- Former D1 Player who knows what to focus on within each player’s tape.
- Click here for an example of his past work with our 2020 Men’s Atlanta Camp
- Email: denardsports@gmail.com, Phone #312-805-2670, @firemixtapess on Instagram
- Discounts if you tell him Dustin Simcox refers you.
Game Film: Suggested Deadline: June 15th
Highlight Tape is done. Now you will need two full game tapes. Why? If a coach watches your highlight tape and likes what they see, the coach will want to see you over the course of a full game. In my experience a coach only needs a game or two. Rarely will they watch more than that. They will have their decision after 4-6 minutes of highlights and 2 games. Advice for Game Film:
Your college coach should be able to do this for you or at the very least provide the film.
- Games were played in 2020/2021 or 2021/2022 season. Games played before that will be considered outdated.
- Make sure the camera quality is good. Nobody wants to watch poor quality for 40 min.
- Have the game posted on Youtube. No passwords, redirects, codes, or anything.
- Make sure the games shows what you want to show. Versatility is important. If you scored career high but got smoked on defense, might not be the best game to show.
- Provide your jersey # and statistics for the game in the Youtube Description
Basketball Resume: Suggested Deadline: June 15th
I suggest you make something in a word document once your film links are complete. Make sure you add this:
- phone number
- date of birth
- nationality
- height
- positions
- accolades (all conference, player of the week, etc)
- A brief description of your game and how you see yourself at the next level (do not say I am the hardest worker, I have the best basketball IQ, etc. Of course you arent going to say you don’t work hard or don’t have a good basketball IQ).
- Stats from all years of college. Sometimes smaller schools do not report stats online (for example JUCOs). So please fill in all the years.
