Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Direct Access to Teams, league has 21 open American spots. Due to COVID, budgets are reduced so finding a player already in Armenia is more attractive than bringing them over at their expense.
- Armenia is primarily rookie league that has been an entry way for bigger and better jobs. Past players have moved on to Western European countries (Germany, Spain, Portugal, etc), Eastern European (Georgia, Romania, Belarus, Greece), and even a few made it to NBA G-League following their seasons in Armenia.
- Seasons across Europe are starting throughout October, November, December, and even January. Therefore, you can access professional level film against professional teams in search for a contract either in Armenia or anywhere across Europe that will give you advantages of Americans back home.
- We have had enough players get signed on past tours that I (Dustin Simcox), have played games in Germany, Netherlands, and Portugal the past 3 years because we didnt have enough players to play at the end of the tour. Yes, you can imagine watching that.
- Players like camps, get equal playing time. Everybody gets their opportunity.
- Armenian season starts Oct 15, so you could go directly from the tour to the start of your season.
Cons:
- The one big one. Cost. The $3000 cost is not light, but it does cover your flights, hotels, meals, transport, and necessary expenses while on the trip.
